Honoring the Holy Spirit
A reminder to honor the Holy Spirit through obedience, kindness, and love, avoiding actions that cause grief, and living a life that reflects God’s will.
Ephesians 4:30-32
God loves you, and he doesn’t want anyone to perish. The Holy Spirit lives inside us. He is hurt when we deceive, smoke, and speak against our brother and sister.
If the Holy Spirit is there in your life, you will come to every meeting, confess that you are a sinner, and pray and read the Bible even when no one is asking.
You say your children all the time. Give them the Holy Spirit the word of God; they will not turn from his word.
God’s word will penetrate them. If you pray and read the Bible with your children, God will walk before them. God will not let them perish.
Abraham and Job were rich. Money should not take the place of God in your life.
Don’t idolize your blessing, money, and business. By giving a child to Sarah, God wanted to show nothing was too hard for him.
- Season, condition-nothing matters to God. If God wants to bless you, he will bless you.
- Train your tongue to confess what you believe, not what you feel.
- Say I am not old or broken. Don’t speak wrong. Don’t say your business is not growing.
- Abraham never confessed that he wouldn’t have a child; he always said, God will give.
- Sarah confessed that she was old when God promised something in an awkward situation that meant he wanted to see your faith. Because of Abraham’s faith, he had a child. He was lost in his son.
Are you lost in money, shopping, and business? God gave you that scooter, child, to glorify his name. Do you give excuses to God when he blesses you?
Abraham loved the son so much that he forgot God. Can you pray that, Lord, if you want me to give you my business, take that business.
Abraham was filled with faith when his son asked where the sacrifice was; he said God would provide it. If God is asking for something precious from you, then give because God will provide.
- No relationship, no work, no money, but God should be first.
- Don’t complain; be thankful. Your thankfulness will melt the heart of God.
- Don’t confess what you feel because you feel fear and broken.
- Let’s confess what you want to see.
You must confront the bad thoughts with the word of God because it affects your life. It’s like cancer, which kills a person inside.
Bad thoughts kill your conscience and spirit. We need to be careful about our thoughts.
When you think more about your life, job, situation, and money than God, then it grieves the Holy Spirit.
When you complain, fight, or argue, God is grieved.
How you behave in your bedroom or in a house with your parents and spouse, matters to the Holy Spirit.
You must follow what God says. You must have control of your tongue. Let’s watch our thoughts and actions.

Effects of Grieving the Holy Spirit
- When you grieve the Holy Spirit, you don’t lose him. You are sealed by the Holy Spirit for the day of redemption. You will not lose him even if you grieve him because John 14:16 says he will abide with you forever.
Hebrews 13:5 He will not leave you nor forsake you.
- You will lose his felt presence, his power, his leading, and his filling:-
The moment you sin, you lose his power. Demons will not go because you are coming without power. When there is a mighty move, you will not feel his presence. You will not feel his touch.
You will see people are slain in the Spirit, but you will not feel his anointing because somewhere you are grieving the Holy Spirit.
There are 2 types of people.
One is receivers who receive the Holy Spirit.
Another is the audience who just sees what God is doing. Everyone is. revived, touched, repented, reconciled, touched, but nothing will touch you because you have kept reserves for yourself so that you go and commit that sin again, and God knows it, so it’s important to open your heart and give everything to God so that when you go home, you go as a free bird.
Sin is a weight: in the church, when you come, you give it to God and go as a free bird. You are sealed by the Holy Spirit, but you will lose everything he gives. Because of your disobedience, you are not touched by the Holy Spirit. It’s like you have a husband, but he is not talking to you. You have him but can’t feel him.
You lose his lead: you feel so irritated and frustrated because nobody is leading you. You are making decisions on your own.
You miss his filling: when you don’t pray and read the Bible when you are away, you grieve him, and when you come to church, you don’t feel him. It’s not one one-day relationship but every everyday fellowship, just like you talk to your partner every day.
If you want your house to be light, then you need to pray every day. The day you miss a prayer, you miss his power, filling, and leading. Moses knew that without God, they were already killed and destroyed, and he told God, If you don’t come with me, I will not go anywhere. If God is not with you, you cannot pray. His operations are suspended and there is no more glory without him.
You lose spiritual joy: the fruit of the Spirit is joy. The joy of the Lord is your strength. When the joy of the Lord is removed, then Christians know about it.
When you walk with Father, the Holy Spirit, whatever is his, it’s yours. Joy is his fruit, and it’s yours also.
Without the Holy Spirit, there is no joy and peace.
You must have joy because he has wiped out your tears.
If you don’t have peace in you, then you will give peaceless life to others.
Only Jesus, who is the prince of peace, and the Holy Spirit can give you peace.
You lose the power: one time, you may kill the Philistines, but Delilah can come and end your life.
Get right with the Holy Spirit. Don’t pray like David, that lord; don’t take your spirit. Pray that you don’t fall into temptation.
You become so vulnerable to temptation, and you don’t have boldness. When the Holy Spirit is not with you, you will be bold. You will say, God will do it for you.
You lose comfort: when the Holy Spirit is in your life and he comforts you in faith. His job is to comfort you. He said he would send you a comforter. He says don’t worry; he will do it for you. You feel like soaring.
What should you do now?
- You must seek what is grieving him and give it up.
- You must not justify your sin but confess and repent.
- Some don’t have Spirit in them, so they sin over and over.
- According to John 3:6, you cannot be a possessor of Spirit if you are not born of Spirit.
