Forget the Former Things: Embracing God’s New Work in Your Life
Scripture Reference: Isaiah 43:18-19
Life is filled with ups and downs, victories and losses, joys and pains. But God calls us to move forward and embrace the new things He is doing. Isaiah 43:18-19 reminds us of His ability to renew, restore, and transform our lives.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)
God’s Power to Transform Your Life
God has the power to erase the troubles of the past and bring forth something new. He is not bound by human limitations or past failures. Whatever you have lost, He can renew. This verse offers hope that no matter how dark the situation seems, God can create something beautiful out of it.
Many of us wait for reassurance—whether from a doctor’s report, a financial breakthrough, or a word of encouragement from someone. But God is the ultimate source of hope. He is the one who can bring true transformation.
Let Go of the Past
The first instruction in Isaiah 43:18-19 is to “forget the former things.” This does not mean pretending that past struggles never happened. Instead, it means releasing the hold that the past has on you.
God’s ability to do something new in your life depends on your willingness to let go of old burdens. Your future is not dictated by your past, but by your response to God’s calling.
Your Decision Matters
God is waiting for you to take the first step. He won’t force you to move forward; it is your choice to release the past. Your decision will determine God’s action in your life.
Don’t Be Stuck in Regret
Many people fail to grow because they keep living in the past. Regret prevents you from embracing God’s new plans.
Old Mindsets Must Change
Praying, worshiping, or coming to church with an old mindset will not bring transformation. Let go of past disappointments and hurts.
Break Free from Past Hurts
Many people struggle to grow spiritually because they are holding onto past pain. Whether it is betrayal, loss, or failure, it’s time to release it.
Stop focusing on who left, forsook, or broke you.
Do not dwell on who deceived you or let you down.
Recognizing that your past does not define you opens the door for God’s new blessings.
Holding on to the past prevents God from doing something new. Dwelling on old failures, relationships, jobs, or financial struggles is a form of idolatry because it places past events above God’s power to restore and renew.
God is Always Doing Something New
God is a God of the present and the future. He is continuously working and inviting you to be part of His plans. He does not want you to rely on old revelations, stale testimonies, or outdated experiences.
Just as software needs updates, your faith needs renewal.
Forgetting the past is like receiving fresh bread from God today.
Moving forward allows you to experience new blessings and spiritual growth.
God Will Make a Way in the Wilderness
The wilderness represents uncertainty, fear, and darkness. But God promises to make a way even in the most challenging circumstances. He parted the Red Sea for the Israelites, and He will create a path for you too.
The wasteland symbolizes barrenness and hopelessness. But God doesn’t just provide a small amount of relief-He brings streams of water into the dry places of your life. He will not just meet your needs; He will abundantly bless you.
Final Thoughts
God is asking you today, “Will you not see the work I am doing in your life?” He desires to bless you, but you must take the first step by letting go of the past.
Forget what lies behind, step forward in faith, and embrace the new things God has for you. No matter how uncertain the future seems, trust that He is making a way for you.
God bless you abundantly!
