Main Scripture: Hebrews 6:1–3
Therefore, let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity…

Sometimes, We Are the Obstacle

One of the greatest dangers to your spiritual growth is you – your attitude, your reactions, your behaviour. Worry, irritation, and anger—these things don’t always come from people but from within you and the spiritual opposition around you.

Your own behaviour can keep you from moving.
It’s not always people stopping you—it’s how you respond to them.

When God is ready to promote you, Satan works to distract you. The attack is subtle – through offence, emotions, or misunderstandings. But the real battle is not with people-it’s light vs. darkness.

Increase Your Vision—Spiritually

You can’t move forward if your spiritual vision is shallow. Many are caught up fighting each other when the true enemy is hidden.

  • You’re not wrestling against your brother or sister.
  • You’re in a spiritual war—and only prayer can give you sight to discern it.

Pray until you start seeing clearly.”
When Peter cut the ear of a soldier, it wasn’t wisdom-it was blind reaction. He couldn’t see the bigger plan of God.

God Has a Time and Stage for Everything

Every level in your faith journey has its own furniture-its own lessons, experiences, and shaping.

You can’t bypass stages. You can’t microwave maturity.
Don’t ask for blessings out of season-immaturity delays destiny.

Like a child grows in stages, so do we. But many get stuck in the preparation stage-learning, but never moving forward.

Stage One: Preparation

Preparation is where we:

  • Learn the basics of Christian life
  • Develop character, discipline, and spiritual habits
  • Understand the value of love, not just spiritual gifts

Even the Corinthian church was gifted, but Paul rebuked them for lacking love and order. Gifting without growth leads to spiritual disorder.

Love is as important as prayer.
Missing one step causes a misstep-and immaturity.

If correction offends you, you’re still stuck in early stages. Maturity means we grow beyond offence and embrace growth.

Move from the Outer Court to the Inner Court

You can’t be in two places at once. The spiritual journey demands decisions:

  • Leave arguments behind.
  • Let go of religious legalism and move into a deeper relationship.
  • Understand someone already paid the price for you to go further—Jesus.

Many believers remain stuck for decades in debates:

  • About baptism styles
  • Denominations (Methodist vs Catholic)
  • Clothing rules and rituals

These are distractions. You were not saved to argue-you were saved to advance.

Yesterday’s bread can’t feed you today.
Yesterday’s revelation won’t defeat today’s enemy.
You must move forward with fresh insight, faith, and obedience.

Final Word: Don’t Get Stuck in Preparation

God is calling you to grow-from faith to faith, glory to glory. Don’t let childish distractions or spiritual immaturity hold you back. Recognise the season you’re in, submit to the process, and step into deeper maturity.
